Becca Britton has been working in animal welfare for the last 13 years. Outside of animal welfare, her work experience over the last ten years has been in the nonprofit sector with a focus on community development organizing large scale community based public art programs, youth art & culture programming, and development . Her background in marketing, graphic and web design, grant writing and project management has proven to help her projects succeed over time.
Becca is founding member and executive director of
Friends of the Cleveland Kennel, a nonprofit organization
that serves as a support org for Cleveland Animal Control
(created in 2003). Through her non profit, she has ran a
successful rescue organization, raised thousands of dollars
in supportive care for animals in care of animal control and
also created the series of free pet wellness events in Cleveland called “Canine & Feline Wellness Days”. These events have successfully serviced low income Cleveland residents for the past five years.
Over the past three years, Becca Britton has worked for the Cleveland Animal Protective League and helped to develop and managed the new program called Project CARE. This was an ASPCA funded program, based on the model of the Pets For Life (HSUS) program, with the mission to help reduce intake at the shelter. As the sole manager of this program, Becca succeeded in assisting over 431 individuals, and over 1,000 animals. Her last year at the APL, she developed a new version of this program funded by the Cleveland APL.
Most recently, Becca created a new program under her non profit organization called Neighborhood Pets Outreach & Resource Center. She has taken her outreach experience, training under Pets for Life, and knowledge of animal welfare to create a new program to provide affordable and accessible wellness care and information to low income pet owners in Cleveland. The new storefront opened this Summer, where they will be servicing a neighborhood on the east side of Cleveland.
Becca is a graduate of the Leadership Development Program Initiative, a highly competitive and interactive year long program led by a former Cleveland mayor, Michael White. She has attended various management, and animal welfare workshops and certification programs over the years. Her focus as a “big picture thinker” is to create sustainable change in Cleveland by being an advocate for animals, as well as the people who love them.
