in love

so i’m driving to pet smart to get blood worms and feeders for my bullhead and pumpkin seed, and happy hips for rommel, on the drive i’m listening to “hesitation marks” by NIN. i love that cd, i’d marry it if it wasn’t illegal in this state…after all it’s adam and eve, not adam and compact disc. if they were to let you marry a disc the entire traditional structure of the family would break down and their would be chaos….anyway, i remember telling my old therapist i thought trent reznor was a genius, she didn’t agree with me, actually we didn’t agree on a lot of things. what i really like about trent besides being from cleveland, is he challenges himself from disc to disc, there’s always growth. ok, think i’ll play some iron maiden while i work today….metal geniuses

this youtube is NIN “copy of a” live..they pull their material off live really well too.

it’s done and available…by popular demand…thanks for all the love on this one…..we made “bait” into a print. bait is a signed and numbered edition of 400 and measures 21″ x 28″. if interested in one click HERE

…speaking of the movie wizards (see previous update) i did a piece inspired by some of the imagery and how it was put together last night…not content though, i don’t go for those goblin type things. it’s called “the arch” and is three layers of paper…a back ground, middle ground, and foreground, each mounted on top of the one below….check it out HERE  …and as far as watchng wizards, which i think you should do, netfix it or youtube it HERE

so i’ve been buying old scene magazines as of late, the scene is cleveland’s free weekly entertainment paper which started in 1973 i believe. i’m collecting issues from when i started paying attention to music and up till i was around 20, so 1977 thru 1984-ish scenes, give or take a 1976 or 1985. while looking through a 1977 issue an advertisement for a movie caught my eye. it had a really cool drawing of some crazy guy with a gun sitting on top of some kind of crazy ostrich looking animal and it was animated. the advertisement was for a midnight showing of it and it was called “WIZARDS”. i immediately went online and impulsively bought the dvd version of it…animated, midnight movie, 1977 meant  far out dude. that’s the kind of crazy movie people got really wasted for before going in….so there was automatic potential.

it came in the mail and ended up getting thrown in my dvd box and forgotten about till last night. my pal melissa came over last night to watch movies which we do from time to time. i dug threw my dvd box and found my wizard movie. it was around midnight and although we weren’t wasted, we popped it in anyway.
now, i hate wizard, elf, fairy, hobbit type movies, so i was going into it not expecting the best….but i found it to be in the best type of animated flick of all. layer on top of layer on top of layer of animation, far out dude ideas were plastered all over the place. the people who did this movie did whatever the hell they wanted and got away with it because it worked……AND it was done the old fashion way, the way way before computer animation. i got over the elf stuff a minute into the good vs evil story line started, which held it’s own with the way it was presented. the sound track worked really well too, unlike other midnight movie classics like  “heavy metal” which drew upon existing cool songs of the time. Wizards did they’re own sound track, you knew it was there at times, and at times you didn’t because it fell into the background supporting the visuals cementing it all together.
guess what, i think it was really really really really cool and guess what else…i think you should watch it.

little more

just three more pictures from chicago…thanks again to the folks who came out, you’re the greatest…pretty nice tattoo as well

last night…

hey! i want to thank everyone who braved the cold and came out to the opening last night in chicago, it is appreciated, and these things don’t work without you. up top is a shot of one of the rooms and below are my pals and their dogs. top one is artist jay ryan and his dog nora. jay and i toured art shows in switzerland and germany a few years back, and he’ll be part of a four person show i’m setting up in cleveland this september. under that pictures is my buddy kirbi who is the owner of the venue, rotofugi…and just by coincidence his dog is named “fugi”…what are the odds?

i’m here in chicago, and i played with the radio all the way here. i like to hear how different classic rock, and rock stations vary their formats from one another……but what i found this is hard to do. radio is ruled by country, rock is dead….i swear there’s country stations on top of country stations…you know when one fades out another fades in on the same call numbers. old man hess remembers when rock was king, country stations were in the south, that’s it, that’s still where they belong….anyway, in the late 70’s through mid 80’s i was hitting an arena rock show at least once a week….black sabbath, queen, ozzy, aerosmith when they were good, ufo, cheap trick, blue oyster cult, thin lizzy, judas priest…all in 20,000 seat venues. where did we go so wrong. i defy you to find one or two rock bands that can still fill an arena, let alone a stadium…all country. ebola, isis, russia, north korea, and now country, the enemy of america

hey, that picture is of me and rommel outside of rotofugi where the show is tomorrow night.

give a punk a gun and he does punk ass shit…ain’t that right you french terrorist trash
